HARBOR CITY (CBSLA.com) — More than two dozen students were treated Tuesday after a girl fired pepper spray at another student at a Harbor City high school.
The Los Angeles Fire Department responded to a call around 10:40 a.m. on a report that students at Narbonne High School, at 24300 S. Western Ave., were affected by a possible irritant.
Officials said two girls were fighting in a hallway when one pepper sprayed the other. The residue affected those nearby.
A total of 27 students were affected. Only two students were transported to a local hospital in fair condition.
The girl told officials she brought the irritant to school as self-defense after she felt threatened.
Authorities have detained her and are continuing to investigate the incident.
